Inter Miami CF Defeats Chicago Fire FC 4-1 at Soldier Field

CHICAGO (August 31, 2024) – Inter Miami CF (18W-4L-5D, 59 points) secured a commanding victory by defeating Chicago Fire FC 4-1 away from home on Saturday night. The team, led by Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, dominated at Soldier Field with a standout performance from Luis Suárez, who scored a brace and recorded his 21st goal contribution of the 2024 MLS regular season. The other goals came from Robert Taylor and an own goal by the opponent.

With this win, Inter Miami solidifies its position as the team with the most unbeaten away matches in the current MLS season, extending their streak to 11 matches without a loss on the road.

Luis Suárez Shines in the Inter Miami Victory

Head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino praised Suárez’s performance after the match: “After the goal, we had control, and I think until the last 10 or 12 minutes of the game, it was like that. Then we dropped back a bit, but the guys who came in did well, so we were able to close out the game with Robert [Taylor]’s goal. Luis [Suárez] was probably the best player on the pitch.”

Inter Miami started the match with Drake Callender in goal; a five-man defensive line consisting of Marcelo Weigandt, Ian Fray, Sergio Busquets, David Martínez, and Jordi Alba; Federico Redondo and Yannick Bright in midfield; and in attack, Julian Gressel and Diego Gómez supported Suárez as the lone striker.
