Jorge Bava Steps Down as Head Coach of León FC

LEÓN, GTO. – Jorge Bava is no longer the head coach of Club León. The club’s management announced on Sunday that they have decided to part ways with the strategist following a series of disappointing results.

León suffered a defeat against Xolos de Tijuana on Friday in a match corresponding to Matchday 6 of the Liga MX, which ultimately led to the decision.

Bava entered the match under immense pressure due to León’s poor start in the 2024 Apertura Tournament, and the decision was finally made to terminate the working relationship.

In the current tournament, León has failed to secure a single victory, accumulating four draws and two losses, placing them in the 15th position with just 4 points.

With Liga MX pausing activity for the next few weeks, the club saw this as the perfect opportunity to find a new coach who will have some time to try and steer the team in the right direction.

León will now start the search for an interim coach who will have to work against the clock to try and secure a spot for León in the Mexican football playoffs.

Fans on social media had been calling for Bava’s departure after he failed to achieve the expected results. Just a few days ago, following the team’s setback in the Leagues Cup, Bava had assured that he was firmly in his position.
