MLS champion Columbus Crew beats LAFC in final

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Crew was crowned MLS champion after defeating LAFC, who came into the match as defending champions, 2-1 in the MLS Cup.

The first half was definitive in the final after a handball in the box, Columbus took the lead with a penalty kick well converted by Cucho Hernandez at 33, after a great definition.

Columbus would extend the lead in the 37th minute with a goal by Yaw Yeboah in the 37th minute, after a great team play.

LAFC was slow to react and it was not until the 74th minute when Denis Bouanga managed to make it 2-1, but it would not be enough, as they were practically out of options for the rest of the match.

The madness was unleashed at Lower.Com Field after the Columbus Crew’s coronation in a great MLS party, after winning the title longed for by the fans and all the members of the team.

On the other side, possibly the end of a cycle, with Carlos Vela, whose contract ends this Sunday and there is no clarity on whether or not he will continue as a player of LAFC.

Los Angeles lost yet another final of the season under Steve Cherundolo, who has not been able to get back on his feet since losing the final of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Columbus Crew had a sensational season and culminated it with a formidable performance in the final in which they dominated LAFC, whom they held at bay throughout the match.

After winning the championship, the awards ceremony was held and the trophy was presented to the new MLS champion.
