Seattle Sounders defeats FC Dallas 2-0 in the start of the Playoffs

Seattle, WA (October 30, 2023) – Seattle Sounders started their MLS playoffs in great form by defeating FC Dallas 2-0 at Lumen Field.

The match was level until a penalty was awarded to Seattle in the 43rd minute. Albert Rusnák converted the penalty to give Seattle the lead.

Seattle maintained the initiative and scored the second goal in the 74th minute through Jordan Morris.

The next match between the two teams will be played on Saturday at Toyota Stadium in Texas. The MLS implemented a new 2-of-3-game playoff format for this season, so there will be a third match at Seattle Sounders’ home if necessary.

Rusnák and Morris, stars of the victory

Albert Rusnák was the hero of the match by scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot. The Slovakian midfielder has been a key player for Seattle Sounders this season, with 11 goals and 10 assists in 30 matches.

Jordan Morris was also important in Seattle’s victory. The American forward scored the goal that sealed the match in the second half. Morris has been one of Seattle Sounders’ most outstanding players in recent years, with 34 goals and 27 assists in 129 matches.

Seattle Sounders looking to reach the final

Seattle Sounders is one of the favorites to win the MLS Cup this year. The team has won the title twice, in 2016 and 2019.

With the victory on Wednesday, Seattle Sounders is one step away from the Western Conference final. The Seattle-based team will look to seal their passage to the next round on Saturday at Toyota Stadium in Texas.
